Sister Revealed How Paul Haggis Destroyed, Abused Family

Kathy said that not only was her brother, Paul Haggis, willing to sacrifice family members for his own reputation, but that he was physically abusive.

TRANSCRIPT:

Paul has destroyed our family. He destroyed our family many years ago.

He used every opportunity he could to malign the reputations of people who were getting in his way, like his first wife. His first wife tried to keep Paul honest. She tried to protect her children. And Paul systematically destroyed her reputation.

We had a close family. We saw each other all the time. We raised our children together. We worked all day together, we met at night and on the weekends and played cards together. But as Paul’s career became more and more important to him, he was willing to sacrifice each and every one of us, and did, in order to line his own pockets and to hide the things that he had been doing. He had been very—understand that Paul, and this is something I have never talked about before, but Paul is abusive. He is—he was abusive to his wife. He used to get into physical fights with her and lock her in the closet, lock her in the bathroom. And there was a time when he tried to get physically abusive with me.

I have been standing up against Paul for two decades because as much as I love my brother, he can’t do this. And he has to know that it is not okay to destroy the reputations of good and decent people on the altar of his ambitions.
